MANDATE

 

Effective and Sustainable management of fisheries resources through improved post harvest preservation, processing, utilization and storage using profitable technological processes.

 


Our Profile

The department is made up of four sections namely:

  • Food Safety
  • Post Harvest
  • Biotechnology
  • Fish Nutrition

 

These four sections are scheduled to

(i)    Research into effective ways   for improved post-harvest
       handling; preservation, utilization and storage using
       profitable technological processes

(ii)   Research into the safety of process and other foods.

(iii)  Research into the genetics, genomes and traits of aquatic
      organisms.

(iv)  Conduct research to understand the genetic variation of
      fisheries resources and development of improved fish strains
.

(v)   Research and training in Fish biotechnology.
